808 Viral just posted the touching video of Uncle Kenny of ONO’s Family Restaurant talked to us about how he finally had to close after 40 years in business.
It’s no surprise that with the current restrictions in place that small business has zero chance of survival on Kauai. So many of our businesses have closed forever on Kauai.
Many on the Mainland and throughout the world do not understand that Kauai’s Mayor Derek Kawakami has implemented a 2-Test / 2-Step process to travel to Kauai which has pretty much put Kauai in a complete bubble.
While the rest of Hawaii went into the State’s “Safe Travel’s” program, Kauai opted out shortly after it started in October 2020 which has pretty much sealed its fate.
Small business was already hanging by a thread in October 2020 and the Mayor’s harsh policies cut that thread for many.
Unfortunately, the Mayor does not share publically his plans to get into the regular “Safe Travels” program.
Word on the street is he has no intentions of doing so.
Sad for you, Kawakami needs to get a life that listens to the constituents. I think that is NOT HAPPENING brcause of a virus that in the big picture is minini
As an owner of two legal Tvrs and my fellow business people on this island, heed our words mayor! Open up our economy, enough is enough! You lose approximately $3000 a month for me in Ge and tat tax, maybe enough to pay one government employee per month. I have to assume you’re still collecting your paycheck each month. If you listen to the news lately it’s become a parent the Democratic ruled governors and mayors Of states are pushing for a socialistic agenda that the American people do not want. Quit hiding under the disguise of COVID-19 and do what’s right for your people for a change Or start worrying about your political future. A concerned Citizen
This island has only approx 70,000 residents- if you speak out against anyone or anything you risk being ridiculed, your business being boycotted, being fired or not being hired due to political beliefs. It’s a sad time in history when unscientific mandates are set forth, untested vaccines are given to the public and an agenda set forth by the world economic forum members are manipulating the masses. Our freedoms are taken away by the threat of being “ unsafe” if your not compliant or in agreement with the government and its supporters. Economic shutdowns, contact tracing and mandatory quarantine for healthy people is only the beginning of communism! This is EXACTLY what took place in NAZI Germany- How many people today even know that part of history? Allowing the government to dictate your or daily life is communism… Sovreignty never looked so good!!!! ALOHA!

Sadly it’s tough watching the people you know loosing everything. At first our mayor did what he thought was protecting us. Now I’m not sure what his administration is doing or what the plan for our island is. We see other states opening up and doing fine. We do have to take a stand and make our voices heard!
